Privacy
SproutVibe is a self-hosted plant tracker, and this site is run by one person. This page says exactly what the site records, because "privacy-first" is worth nothing if you have to take it on trust.
Who runs this
sproutvibe.net and demo.sproutvibe.net are operated by Joris de Josselin de Jong, in the Netherlands, on self-owned hardware. Questions: [email protected].
Analytics
Both sites use Umami, self-hosted on the same server. Nothing is sent to Google, Meta, or any analytics company — the data never leaves the machine serving this page.
Each visit records:
- the page you viewed, and the site that linked you here
- browser, operating system, device type, screen size, language
- country
What is not recorded
- No cookies. The tracker sets none, and nothing is stored on your device.
- No IP addresses. There is no column for one. Your IP is used in transit to derive a country and is not written down.
- No city or region. Those fields exist in the software and sit empty here — country is as precise as it gets.
- No persistent identifier. You are not given an ID that follows you between visits, and you are never tracked across other websites.
- No personal data. Nothing recorded identifies you.
These are not claims about what the software could do — they describe what is actually stored in this deployment's database.
Interest buttons
The homepage has buttons asking whether you would pay for a hosted version. Pressing one records a single anonymous count, in the same way as a page view. No email address, no contact details, and nothing that links the answer to you.
The demo
demo.sproutvibe.net creates a temporary account when you open it, so you can try the app without signing up. It holds only the sample plants it generates for you. The entire demo database is deleted and rebuilt every night, so nothing you do there survives the day.
If you self-host
None of the above applies to your own instance. The analytics on this site are part of this site, not the software. A SproutVibe instance you run sends no data anywhere — that is the point of it.
Your rights
Under the GDPR you may ask what personal data is held about you, and have it corrected or erased. Since none is recorded here, there is in practice nothing to retrieve or erase — but if you think otherwise, get in touch and it will be sorted out.
